Ângela Carne e Osso is an insatiable nymphomaniac, married to Dr. Plirtz (Jô Soares), a former Nazi executioner and owner of the comic book trust in Brazil. Bored with her domestic life, she spends her time collecting men on the idyllic retreat of Ilha dos Prazeres. Helena Ignez's performance is marked by its inventiveness and has become a reference in the history of Brazilian cinema.

A psychiatrist administers LSD to four volunteers to study the effects of the drug under the influence of the image of Zé do Caixão. The character appears differently in the psychedelic delusions of each one, alternating between sex, perversion and sadism.
“Ritual of the Sadists” was produced in 1969 and immediately vetoed by the censorship of the then military government, which, in addition to preventing the film from being shown, also intended to destroy all the copies and the negative. During the 1980s, it was shown at exhibitions and festivals under another title: “The Awakening of the Beast”.
